How to find a sponsor who is a CFA society member

Hello,

I just took CFA L3 in June 2011 and recently moved to a new town, and I am applying to the local CFA society for regular membership. My problem is that I do not know any members here yet. Have any of you had a similar experience, and how have you dealt with it?

Absolutely. That is my plan. I was just curious about other members' experiences regarding this, and I thought there may be an "official" CFA way to accomplish it.

I called my local society and CFAI....local society is pretty cool and just ask me to email them my contact info and they will try to match couple of members as sponsor if I need to....CFAI informs me that I don't have to belong to any local society; i was shcoed to hear that.
