How to Beat the Ethics Section
1. Buy the Ethics Handbook
There are many reasons to buy the book:
All we need to know in Ethics are summarized in the small book and it's also an official text from AIMR.
It's both cheap and
readily digestible.
Ethics is the critical section that make U pass the exam, if you got a marginal score.
If I were you, I would plan on reading the Handbook before the exam.
2. How to use the handbook WISELY
We got less than a month for study and there're over 300 pages in the handbook. Holy Christ! How can I make it!
Don't Panic. We got some clues to win the game and they only cost you one to two days of study time.
When tackling the ethics questions, we always face a gap that we know the ethics standards and underlying concepts, but we still got confused in a real life case.
To solve the problem, we can simply focus on the Example sections (named "Application of the Standard" under each standard) of the handbook from p.9 to p.159 (we can skip other sections, as the Schweser has done a pretty good job on summarizing the standards and principles). We can just use a few hours (if you can read very fast) to do the necessary reading instead of going through the whole handbook. We can thus save a lot of energy and time. Is it wonderful!!
3. Make your own Notes
When you read the "examples", you'll find many special scenarios that you never think about. Make some brief notes on such cases.
4. Do the old questions
As I always emphasize "learning by doing", you should practise the old questions. |
