Keep your head down staring at the books, no matter when you start or how disgruntled you may feel through a section. The ones who pass know not to dwell on one subject too long. Go back later, just keep on plowing. Do not let others tell you otherwise. That 35% pass rate indicates that a large portion of the bitter-talkers on here are probably not in the 35% pass-pool (it's argumentable, but it's a good bet if I ever had to place one). Don't talk to others studying the CFA, I don't know but from personal experience it only drags you down. Only talk to people who are positive and bring good energy into your life because study periods are certainly dreadful and more negativity will not only hinder your study but put a permanent stop to it. ACFACandidate, you said it all... I just registered for Dec exam, that'd be 10months of my life. I'll make sure i dont need to take that exam again.

Good post. I'm in IT, have three kids, a full time job and only had 3 months and 4 days to study. Everyone who ever took a CFA test and failed was telling me constantly how hard the test was. How it's so difficult to pass. "Good luck on that one" and other snide comments.

I passed with 7 topics > 70% and have my results sheet hanging on my wall. And now nobody's making negative comments.

There are two metrics that determine if you will pass this test:
1. How smart you are
2. How hard you work

I won't hazard at guess at quantifying the breakdown between these two, but I'm convinced that #2 is significantly more important.

Another annoying thing to deal with are the people with the attitude of "If you don't pass, no big deal. You can just take it the next year." Forget that. Studying for Level 1 consumed my life for 3 months. I wasn't going through that twice.

If you don't pass, make sure you alert everyone on AF, otherwise you have the "wrong attitude."
