Just Started University, important, regarding, question, started

Hi, I've just started preparing for the exam in December'09. Do you think i have enough time for the preparation? in August i won't be able to study!

My second question is regarding the probabilities (Reading 8 and above...); i am having difficulties with understanding it, the main reason is that i hate probabilities, though i've studied at University! How important it is to know it thoroughly for the exam? Can i skip this part at least for a while? the rest of the books are so interesting and i just can't decide whether to switch on them...

PLease advise...
