Become a member?

I am really confused on whether to apply for membership (give sponsorship letters to member and supervisor) now or after one year when I finally pass my level 3 exam.

Are there any suggestions on which road is the best to take?

It depends on how active your local chapter is and if your employer would be willing to pay for it. Also you get your work experience requirement approval out of the way. There are some good networking opportunities as well.

my understanding is that you can do your sponsorship stuff, get the work experience approved, and still not pay membership (associate or regular) dues till you decide you are ready. starting early allows you to get your work experience requirement out of the way - if you have already accumulated enough work experience.

if however you are still below the 48 months level - then this allows you to get the associate membership with the local society and then allow the work experience to roll over the additional months.

you might want to send an email to the CFAI and check on this with them.
