GIPS v AMC vs Stds of Conduct

I thought it may be useful to highlight differences btwn the 2 codes considering they are so similar! I find it very tempting to just brush over them because of their similarities figuring if I know the one I know the other but here are a couple of differences I’ve noticed - add on if you think it’s worthwhile…
1. Returns:
GIPS and Prof Code - gross or net as long as all fees/charges disclosed clearly so client can get to net if gross reported
AMC - gross and net must be disclosed and all charges
2. Record Retention
Prof Code - 6 yrs for individual’s account, 7 yrs for institutional account
AMC - 6yrs for all accounts

3. Compliance Officer:
Prof Code: must be independent of IM team
AMC - depending on firm size etc can be indepedent or existing member of IM team

4. Compliance:
Prof Code - must comply with more strict rules out of Prof Code and local laws
GIPS - if local laws differ from GIPS must comply with local laws but disclose how and where they differ

5. Additional Compensation
AMC - Reject any additional compensation arrangement if it creates a conflict.
Prof Code - Seek employer and client consent before entering into arrangement.
