Here’s the real answer:
To enroll in Level 1:
Have a U.S. bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree
Or be in the final year of your bachelor’s degree program at the time of registration
(Note: education information must be updated before progression to Level II)
Or have four years of qualified, professional work experience
Or a combination of work and college experience that totals at least four years.
To obtain the charter:
1. Four years (48 months) of work experience in …
2. A fulltime position consisting of …
3. Qualifying activities, such as:
Evaluating and applying financial, economic, or statistical data involving securities or other investments, or producing work that adds value to the process
Supervising persons who practice such activities
Teaching such activities
The CFAI website has a full list of what qualifies as applicable work experience.
So yes, if you are without the experience, you can complete the program in as little as 1 1/2 years (Dec 09, June ‘10, June ‘11) years and still not qualify for the CFA designation. |
