Does frequently writing research give you an edge with the A

For those of you that have taken L3 and are also in research roles where there’s a high demand to publish, have you found it to help with the AM section of the exam?  I know the AM section is more short answer than essay, but I was wondering if you felt that going through the exercise of frequently publishing gave you an edge.

This is actually what I’m talking about.  I’ve noticed that I’m much more proficient at writing than I was before working in research.  There are standard reports I have to write but there is also the occasional fire drill.  I’m now much faster at gathering large amounts of information, assessing the situation, making a recommendation, and writing it all down.  English is my second language so the thought of an essay section has always scared me.  I guess for me, I’m not talking about having an edge but being on a level playing field.

in terms of the material, not at all.  you’re not analyzing a company’s earnings or news in the AM L3 section. Your speed is mostly how well you studied and know the material more than anything.  You know it well, it’ll come to you faster, and you can jot it down faster. simple as that.
Only if you were a financial/retirement planner, then marginally yes,  your job should help some in the AM. I say marginally, because your way of doing it, might not be the CFA-way.  ANd you only get points for the CFA way.
