vitalsource ebook curriculum page navigation? navigation, registered, software, windows8, vertical

I registered and downloaded the ebook on my windows8 machine. Using this vitalsource software for the first time. How do we advance from one page to the next? Using the Spacebar or PgUp or PgDn doesn’t seem to work.The forward button in the toolbar is greyed out!
I will die of RSI (lol!) using the mouse each time to move the arrows in the vertical scroll bar, or scrolling line by line using the up/dn arrows.
Why can’t the simple Spacebar or PgUp or PgDn work like with any regular pdf? Am I missing something simple - (a Windows8 bug?)- I spent a half hour going over their stupid video tutorials and lost patience!

Ok after reading other posts in the forum, it seems like I am not the first victim of this arcane software. Any windows8 users experiencing page navigation issues - advise on what worked for you. For now I am printing the chapters as ‘pdf’ files and using the utterly totally absolutely free adobe reader to browse through them!
