Session 2: Quantitative Methods: Basic Concepts
Reading 8: Probability Concepts

LOS d: Distinguish between unconditional and conditional probabilities.

Let A and B be two mutually exclusive events with P(A) = 0.40 and P(B) = 0.20. Therefore:

A)
P(A and B) = 0.
B)
P(B|A) = 0.20.
C)
P(A and B) = 0.08.

If the two evens are mutually exclusive, the probability of both ocurring is zero.

For an unconditional probability:

B)
