标题: TI BAII Plus vs. BAII Professional [打印本页]

Can anyone tell me whether the additional cost associated with the BAII Professional model (about $75 versus $40 for the regular BAII Plus) is worth the investment?

Is the BAII Professional necessary (or helpful) for the Level II exam and preparation?
(i.e. the Pro model solves both IRR and MIRR)

Much thanks.

I've never used a function on the professional that I couldn't use on the regular one, but I prefer the professional model as it feels more solid. The keys stick a bit for the first couple months though until it's worked in.

Don't worry though, you'll work it in, haha.

BAII Plus.

So far so good. keys do not stick in. It feels like TI-30X IIS. All functions you need in the exam are there. I don't see we need the extra functions in Pro for exams, but may be for real life cases. It is cheaper and mostly you can find "Back to school" sales deal in August, while there is hardly a sale for BAII Pro.

If you pay out of your own pocket, then BAII Plus.
If you are reimbursed or expensed from profit, then may be the Pro.

Professional is very smooth and like the name implies "professional".

I think there are a few things that you can do easier on the Pro that you can't do on the regular one (I want to say it was Discounted Payback Period). Also, Amazon has the Pro for about $42, so not too bad.

I got a question right on Level 1 in Dec 2009 because I had the professional. The previous poster mentioned the feature I used that is lacking in the non-professional version.

I think most that have the Pro model will say that the best feature is its "feel."

It's more solid. It clicks when you push a button. It doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart. Well worth the extra $ on amazon.

Thanks all for the input so far.

Also has the ability to perform the Net Future Value Calculation, where the plus can't.

^ Thanks. I think I'm leaning towards the Pro.

I really like feel of the Pro as well, better quality for sure. I also got it from amazon.com for under $50.

Chris was right above with the Discounted Payback Period for CF problems. I didn't use that feature for L2, but I do remember actually using it on the L1 exam and it saved me a few minutes. Even if I had not used the extra feature, I have been very happy with the Pro.
