What's been the coolest thing you have learned about in L3 and what has been the lamest?

Concept of the long-short equity neutral strategy. I have plans to basically begin my own online trading blog with analysis and monitoring in gaming related companies (ATVI etc..) and may consider some of that alpha beta separation if I can find an efficient shorting method. I figure if I start now, in 10 or 20 years I may begin to learn some insight into the industry. Also, I believe the BRICs and Emerging Market information to be relevant and interesting. Robert Merton was the best read of the curriculum from an author standpoint.

Jean Tirole's reading on Corporate Governance was on the other side of the spectrum. Very dense and boring and hard to read through. It's almost like there was a translation issue (not that translation) from French to English.
