I can't decide on when to take level 1. Here is my situation: I can either take level 1 this June. I wouldn't sign up till the first week of February which would leave me about 4 months of studying. If I pass, then I could sign up for level 2 next June (2012) or I can sign up for level 1 in December which would give me ample time to study. When I pass, I can sign up for level 2 in June (2012) which would leave me about 4 months to study. I graduated college about a year ago with a finance degree and I'm currently working at a bank. What do you guys suggest?

The earlier the better.

from what I have read, 4 months for Lvl 1 would be more realistic than 4 months for Lvl 2

Exactly - now I wish i took level 1 in my last semester in university (June) than keeping it till December ... Though I guess I will have time to study enough for passing level 2 in June (hopefully if I don't get busy with other plans), it won't give me enough time to enjoy the material especially that it sounds really interesting. So yeah go for level 1 in June

4 months is a long time if you put the hours in every single day and stay committed without burning out. its not easy, but doable. you would have to be extremely strict and regimented imo. good luck!

Bestmiler -- I am in the same boat as you. Between my current job (working in Pensions/Actuarial Science) and the "obligation" to take tests for them I have just now become free to sign up for CFA Level I which has always been my interest as I graduated with an Economics degree. I have decided to tough it out and take the June exam because as others noted, it leaves more time to study for Level II compared to if you took LI in Dec. Best of Luck!

Agreed. Do level 1 this June and level 2 next June.
