Assuming alot of us will take it easy on Friday...what is the focus for Thursday? What topics deserve our final few hours after months of prep?

Mock item set exam (maybe the 2010 one as well), and going over the second half of my notes.

the brunt of my focuse on thursday and friday will be:

- any and all things currency: forwards, swaps, options, risk management, etc
- differences of institutional investors
- quick review of RRTTLLU (return, risk, time, taxes, liquidity, legal, unique)
- motivations for the different option strategies
- GIPS/Asset Manager Code
- WACC w/ pensions
- integration/segmentation adjustments
- ad/disad of trading strategies, trading evaluation, etc
- factor models (all that Covi,m / σm; Bijσi + Bfjσf blah blah blah)

i don't think that is too much to learn in two days.... is it?? lol

Interest rates rising for life insurance company's is not a good thing

lower prepayments are a bad thing for life insurance company's (cash flow risk)

i thought that high interest rates are bad for LIABILITIES due to disintermediation and surrender.

but low interest rates are bad for ASSETS due to reinvestment risk / cash flow risk

T* is easy:

[tcg(1-Pi-Pd-Ptcg)]/(1-Piti-Pdtd-Pcgtcg)

Bottom is r* without r in front.

JP that is a broad statement, youd have to evaluate the ALM duration exposures...

Doing an hour of corporate governance tonight. Reviewing some notes and formulas from 8-12 tomorrow morning. Then I'm dragging my @ss to the golf course for 9 holes and some relaxitime.

It's a scorcher in Dublin today, 22C and sun, sun, sun!

I spent the morning going through my notes, this afternoon watching 4 episodes of Grey's Anatomy and am about to head out for dinner. Tomorrow a last brief read through GIPS and that's it.....my brain needs a rest!

Tonight - debating going and playing soccer. Read formulae sheets.

Read notes tomorrow ~ 3 hours. Have my wife quiz me on formulae after that off and on until supper. Then that's it.

Review of workbook questions, review CFAI 2008-2007 exam, review GIPS and i'm done.

Tomorrow...it's all about GIPS and a couple of immunization problems.
