can anyone please explain how and why to treat the surplus / deficit from proforma - I am not able to get this concept -

If your projected increase in assets is more than your equity/liabilities, you have to finance this gap with additional debt. If your projected equity/liabilities are higher than assets, you have a surplus and can either use this to pay divs or pay off your debt. If you pay off your debt, the decreased interest payments will most likely result in more surplus, so keep plowing it back into servicing the debt until you balance.
