So started studying from mid December and Failed band 10 ...one the most miserable feeling ever after putting in so much effort i know where i went wrong (failed Ethics) and i know that i will Gtd pass next year ...I guess only time will heal the pain of those who had put in th effort yet failed in the meantime im considerng taking up CMA and giving the entrance exam for it i only need 5 more course(advanced financial,taxation and MIS) to be able to write the CMA entrance exam ...what are all the else of you going to be doing ...

My results are seriously surprising to me. Not necessarily the band 10 (because I honestly believe that can happen no matter how prepared you are, and I WAS prepared), but the breakdown. Like Fixed Income - I was scoring above 80% in FI consistently. PM and Econ are also very surprising. I have no idea what happened in those sections. At least with FRA I know what happened - a LIFO/FIFO vignette instead of other things I had a very firm grip on. Oh well, life goes on, right?

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. Probably cry in my beer for a couple of months and start over in February. Sigh. Otherwise it's CIMA.

I had > 70 in Equity, Derivatives and FI ...Corp fin, and FRA 50-70 and rest less then 70...
for me i know for sure Ethics failed me ..looking at your result seems u shd have squeezed a pass since u nailed Ethics.....

shd we go for retab?

Yeh i some how coped with my Band 10 fail but my parents were so disgusted they could not believe i failed and my mom cried all day ...it was heartbreakinng

Yeah my mom cried too, it's tough as hell traderanalyst, and I was only Band 8. Starting now though we have no excuse to fail next year.

Yeh Misscleo i know we will nail this one next year ...im still debating if i shd send for retab since i did erase about 4 questions and the bubble was still black after being erased..

South Asian parents get too touchy when it comes to exams. I cleverly and deliberately didnt spread the news of CFA much in the extended family earlier. After passing L2, I have spread the word a little.

But Trader Analyst and MissCleo Never give up!! I wasn't expecting to pass before the exam this time despite being a retaker. But I kept going at my best during the last month and the exam day. Managed to pass at the low margin.

My two cents.

I failed Band 10 last year. I felt like a caged beast.

I remember retakers saying that studying for level II the second time is much easier... but all i could think about was reviewing all that material over again....

It's tough at first to mentally get back into it, but they were right, going over the material for the second time is a lot easier, once you start to get into it, and slowly build momentum. A retaker who seriously prepared the first time is now a battle hardend veteran... you are hundreds of hours ahead of those fresh from level I. You are much more likely to survive the next Level II battle, given the experience you have. And remember, CFA is a war. One cannot be strong in all areas, nor expect to win every battle. It is not the beginning that matters but the end.

Enjoy the rest of the summer, then back to training.

You'll just have to deal with it for another month or so, then it will go away. With that said now, since you were band 10 and probably missed out by a couple of questions, you should really hit it hard in the fall to maximize your advantage, don't take it too easy in the fall.

Your moms cried? That's so sad! Wow, if my mom cried because of me, I would feel devastated as well. I understand your feelings.

And MissCleo, I saw your posts in the other thread about shooting yourself etc. - don't worry, we will all pass level 2 in 2012

So, don't give up. There's a reason why, even if you become a charterholder, the words 'CFA' appear AFTER your name - YOU are more important. YOUR LIFE is more important than the CFA designation - this is just an exam. I mean, it's about that one day. Things could go bad that day; maybe you have a headache, maybe you were sleepy, maybe it just wasn't your day! How can your performance tested in a few hours decide your survival? Some 50 years down the line, you won't even care about the designation, most probably. And reading some inspiring posts by others, who passed on their 4th and 6th attempts, you just cannot give up. Good luck!

Band 10 means you almost there.
Ethics,FRA, Equity, Derivatives, AI, FI focus on these next around. I am sure you will in 2012.
I did not prepare for Quants, Economics. Just flat out guessed them. Still passed.

Having just failed L2 for the second time (both were band 10 fails) I'm not sure what to do. I feel like giving up, however, I was very close to passing on both attempts. The test changes so much year-to-year, outside of the core topics, so I could easily study my a$$ off next year with the same result.

What would you guys do? Has anyone out there failed with a band 10 twice? I feel like I'm an annomaly - a really bad one at that.

I'm thinking of having my results retabulated for mental but I know that is merely a waste of $100. Has anyone ever heard of this working?

My results are listed below and, frankly, based upon my results I would have thought that I would've done much worse than a 10 band. My grid last year displayed a much, much stronger breakdown outisde of FRA which was under 50% (I must've bombed FRA for last year to be a fail).

Hey man , it really means very little to your career. I m in Finance field and m sure to tell you so. Taking CFA just shows your interest in the field. Getting the charter does not make you a better Analyst.

Last year I was a band 10 level 2 fail after preparing really hard. These were my results!

Don't ever underestimate ethics!!

Band 10 me too...I don't think CFA is impossible...few guesses didn't go my way...not a sensible thing to say when a year has been wasted...but 4 days gone by and people around me think that I have passed L2...coz I am not giving up.

got only 2 in less than 50 ,ethics and Quants, failed band 10, ethics got me I guess.
But u kno its really easy to go thru the materials 2nd time, im sure we'll pass next year, so cheer up. I have worked with analysts with only bachelor degrees but still there pridictions of the year end stocks VALUE were dead on, so I dont think 2 be a good analyst u have b a CFA.
