Depends on your situation. I travel a lot and didn't want to carry the books with me so I found the software version very useful. In addition, you can search for specific terms which I found invaluable.

I bought physical books only.
heard from my friend who bought software copy and at the end never touched at all.
iPad is good for browsing general news, emails, but on iPad, it is not easy to highlight, draw lines, write some memos.. my preference. 作者: jz2012 时间: 2012-3-1 00:46
I bought the printed 1 only as I don't think I can focus on study when using ipad, personally preference tho...
