In order of importance:
1. Know your CFA professor (sponsor) d*mn well, like he/she knows your name well.
2. Do well in his/her class, Ace all assignments, tests, exams
3. Rank the top 5 smart @$$ in your entire university. Each prof with charter can only sponsor up to 5 scholarships per year (December & following June), and every university can only sponsor up to 10 scholarships per year (from two different professors who earned the charter.)

And scholarships are only for new candidates who register to write L1 at the first attempt.
