Quick general question on I.S - Example, Walmart doesn’t report Dept and amort on its income stat. but this amount is added back on the Cash flow statement?!?! What am i missing here? Why isn’t that amount deducted to compute Net income? Thanks for the help.作者: ishfaque 时间: 2013-5-3 15:08

I tried looking into that as well thinking it would just me merged with some line item but isn’t Dept. and amort big! After all how is one to compute EBITDA from the I/S. I think i am missing to link something here. I also checked other big names like apple and caterpilar, none seem to show that, on the other hand a company like target show it on the I/S.作者: FVPV 时间: 2013-5-3 15:11
I dont think there is any requirement to break out D&A. Take you NI and add-back depreciation expense from the cash-flow statement to arrive at EBITDA (obvosuly taxes and Intereest need to be added back too).作者: chunty 时间: 2013-5-3 15:16
Its amazing how obscure these real statements are as opposed to the ones we generally come across in text books and tests…Thanks for help!
