The CFA Currriculum states that the CFA examination is only based on the requred reading. I think we can all agree on that translating to you won’t be tested on material that is in the optional section.
The CFA Curriculum also states “All questions and problems in the readings as well as their solutions …..are part of the curriculum and are required material for the exam”
Question 2 from Reading 50 is a problem generated from the Optional Reading. So its optional for reading, but because it’s in the EOC questions, it might be testable?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but errata was released by the CFAI ( http://www.cfainstitute.org/Eratta/2013_level_II_errata_as_of_10_january... )…MOST of the options reading, #50, which was marked as optional, is actually required.
