What are your favorite finance related books?
作者: eoin    时间: 2013-5-4 12:23

“Fischer Black and the Revolutionary Idea of Finance” by Perry Mehrling - a pretty interesting biography of one of the “inventors” of modern finance.
and, although not finance books, here are two more:
“Basic Economics: A Common Sense Guide to the Economy” by Thomas Sowell, becasue he explains basic economics so crisply using extremely simple examples. I have a signed copy with a letter from Sowell that occupy prized positions on my bookshelf.
“Thinking Strategically: The Competitive Edge in Business, Politics, and Everyday Life” by Avinash Dixit and Barry Nalebuff, as a very good explanation of game theory in everyday life.

Fall of Genius is my favorite to date. Although I like the manager/trader profile books also like Schwager’s “Wizards” books and a couple of the newer ones profiling hedge fund guys like Hedge Hunters and Inside the House of Money.
Oh, and you can’t miss Buffett’s biography.

I also liked the “market wizard” books, very quick to read and a decent insight into different strategies and eras in asset management and the similarities therein. The Last Tycoons (about Lazard) is probably one of my favorites as well. None of these are very technical, just enjoyable to read and contain enough insight to make them worth the time.

Peter Lynch - “One Up on Wall Street”
The guy managed a ton of money successfully for an extended period of time. I believe we call that a “winner.”

I got about an hour into ‘The Millionaire Next Door’ and just couldn’t do it anymore. It is really aimed at the financially ignorant, IMHO.
I wouldn’t call Freakonomics a Finance book, but it was an instant classic.
A Random Walk on Wall Street is good, but perhaps a tad overhyped.
I’m glad no one mentioned ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’, that was awful and very redundant.
I prefer non-finance non-fiction. I just started 1776.
