Having gone through a lot of CFAI questions it seems to me that there is an easy way to eliminate one of the answers in every quantitative question.

Just look at the question as if you know nothing about it. Then think logically what looks like the most correct answer. This is almost always guaranteed to be wrong. Now you are down to two choices!
