Is an external study course worth it for L3? people

In London, failed L3 on first try last year (band 7). L1 and L2 were first time passes, but I know I fell into the 'Level 2 is the hard one, this is easy' trap and didn't put the hours in, so no hard feelings.


I did an external course with one of the London training outfits last year. I'd used them for Levels 1 and 2 but their Level 3 tutor was absolutely dreadful. Unprepared and actually worse than sitting at home self-studying.

So before I consider another company, would appreciate people's thoughts question, and perhaps a specific one to anyone in London with experience of the training providers - is an external training provider worth it for L3? Alternatively, what do people make of online study options from Schweser, Stalla etc instead?

For info, I've never read CFAI - maybe that needs to change. Previous approach has been Schweser including videos and qbank, but I found the qbank much less helpful for L3 and didn't spend the time bashing exam papers. So no real surprise on the outcome...
