Schwensher Degrees of Freedom

Hello everyone,

I just finished all the Schwnsher reading minus the ethics section and am re-reading areas of weakness.

On page 282 of the Quantitative Methods book (Key Concepts section), the Shweser book reads under LOS 10.i "The t-distribution is similar, but not identical, to the normal distribution in shape- it is defined by the degrees of freedom, is more peaked, and has fatter tails compared to the normal distribution."

Is this not a contradiction of earlier reading that states the t-distribution is less peaked than the normal distribution?

Thanks

yes...the the t distribution is less peaked than the z distribution, since it has fatter tails

t-distribution is less peaked than a normal distribution. It's probably a typo.
