Cut and Paste of Press Release

I send out blast emails to clients when a company that we own reports quarterly earnings. It is maybe 4 paragraphs highlighting increase earnings, maybe some guidance, and I usually include a quote from the CEO which of course talks about how well things are going.

Question: Can I cut and paste the CEO's quote directly from the press release without plagiarism issues? How about a sentence such as "Net income increased 5% as a result of expanding margins in our widget division."

Right now I reword the press release, but it is really the same thing. I mean how many ways can you say "sales increased 5%"? And the CEO quote I lift directly from the press release.

It was my understanding that companies did the press releases so outside users could use them word for word. That is why they are written in essentially a third person - so other users could lift the entire press release and distribute it.

Thoughts? Upshot question: how much can I copy and paste from a press release without attribution without getting into trouble?

stats are stats and there is only 1 way to report them

when management says something just quote it

Just use a block quote.
