I couldnt' focus on the paper my mind was blank and i had to read a sentense again and again, i didnt know what i was reading ( is it because of too much study, couldnt sleep the day b4 exam, too anxiety and the room was too cold. I got > 70 for both sample and mocks but i'm pretty sure i fail this time, painful lesson

Here's the deal. There are 3 choices. If in the actual exam, you only knew the answer to say 50% of questions confirmed, and MPS was set at 69%, then you could still pass the exam if you just randomly chose the answers to remaining 50% of the questions. Purely based on luck, you have a 1 in 3 chance of getting it right, so 50% + 16.66% = 66.67%. Now to reach that 69% level, you have to count on the fact that you didn't shoot random darts on the remaining 50% of the questions, so hopefully, assuming you made educated guesses, you might have better than 1/3 probability of getting it right. Say 2/5, then you will get additional 20% score from the remaining portion of the exam, reaching you to your target of 70%.

The above theory suggests why sometimes some students who didnt really bust their a$$e$ for L2 sometimes pass, and in other cases, others who busted their chops fail.

To improve the quality of the exam, CFA institute must follow my suggestion:
- Break up each level into 3 exams, and during each exam only test 3-4 subjects (out of the total 10) Give atleast 1 week between exams.
- Flip side, raise the minimum passing score to 80% but make the exam itself easier.

This way, you are making the exam easier, but still ensuring that you dont get anyone passing it by fluke! Also, since you are giving 1 week between exams to focus on individual topics, you can afford a higher passing mark.

This is the only way to ensure quality people pass.

I never felt comfortable though - in all these tests I totally guessed on at least 20% of all questions and moderately guessed on another 40%. Felt awful after the actual exam. Very depressed, but beginning to accept failure for the first time.

What was the average score on the mocks? How much do you expect in the actual exam? My guess is, fi you got > 70 in the mock, then the MPS is going be set at < what you are going to get. So you'll pass regardless.

This could happen to the best of us. I must have prepared like crazy but made two fatal mistakes:
1) Took a nanny on June 4th. What that meant is, I didnt get to sleep until 12.30 am on 5th june, and woke up at 6 am. That in itself was the worst mistake one could make.

2) During lunch break, I loaded up on a Chipotle bowl with loads of black beans. By 3 PM, I was seriously thinking about taking a half hour nap. Unfortunately, I neither had an alarm to wake me up, nor thought I could afford to. Somehow I managed to complete the exam 30 mins ahead of time but I am pretty sure with so little sleep and oversized lunch, I must have made so many silly mistakes.

Anyone thinks, I might still have a chance at passing? Last years experience was much more pleasant. I was very well rested!

Lesson to us both Bluerose, we need to study harder for Level II next time. It is certainly no Level I.

My best friend used schweser last year and passed. Although he wasn't confident when leaving the exam. This is a guy who is really good at studying and taking tests.

It's very odd though, all the people I personally know who passed L2 all described leaving the L2 exam as "wtf just happened" and "damn, I don't think I passed"...

i slept at 12 pm and got up at 4 am the day before. it was brutal. the AM section went decently. i was so damn tired on the PM section. i couldnt read the passages too. however i told myself that these are 6 months of effort and just do it. SO i just did not give up and kept doing the problems. also i had about 20 minutes to spare which i utilized to get 2 answers right. i always keep telling myself this "Winners never quit, quitters never win". helps me

I studied like hell for 6 months.

Wake Up> Work> Study> Sleep

The occasional minute of freedom I have, I whinge.

My skin is so dry (too much cafeine), feels like a crocodile. Lost 2 kgs but not a good thing Muscle turned into fat. No gym = flabby arms.

And what do I get in return??? I feel dumb and ugly. =(

The worse feeling of all...is that I have to do it all again for the same level shortly. All my weaknesses was packaged into a 6 hour exam. It was customised to put me out for sure!

CFA god, what did I do wrong? I am so sorry. I now know I should not have used Schweser. Please forgive me and let me pass?

when i was in for in level 1, i thought i was going towards the noblest designation and was proud of myself.
after studying for level 2, and taking the exam, i kinda think it's a fraud again in the financial industry. not that i m @#$%&, look at the stupid exams, how ON EARTH are they related to investment professionals? random bits here and there, and testing if you have gone thru the textbooks from cover to cover!
