How hard is it from a foreign to find a job in NYC? Sorry for disturbing you, but do you have any idea of how should I apply for a job there?

Oh ok, but what sort of qualifications and experience does this apply to? I mean for someone like myself, trying to break into industry, with BCom (Acc), tax diploma, CFA program and acc/tax experience it will probably be quite tough?
The problem we have here in SA is that employers will not hire you for a junior trading/stockbroking position if you don't have at least 3yrs experience; so its a catch 22, as I need to get that first position/break in order to get those 3yrs!
Do employers in the US actually hire candidates without experience, and in addition, what is the attitude to foreigners seeking employment?

Thanks for your help on this mpnoonan.

This is interesting about Canada. I'm Canadian abroad looking to get back there but not sure what headhunters to go through or how to go about making contact with decent shops (haven't lived in Canada for some time now so network not strong at all there). Care to drop some more names? I don't know the Canadian recruitment landscape at all really. I've just got 1 year as a junior trader/strategist on BB commodities prop desk (London/NY).

I am working in a Singapore Govt company in Finance department for more than 2 years. I haven't applied for any job for past two years. As such, not sure, how hard it is to get a desired job in Singapore. I am waiting for the results now, very soon I need to start to hunt for my dream job (i.e., investment related).

I'm in South Africa too and it seems that very few banks are hiring for new positions, only time they take people onboard is to replace positions where people resigned but definitely seems to be a hiring freeze at most places.
