Our client
is a specialist investment banking group that occupies a distinctive position. With access to a substantial and flexible capital base, they focus on businesses created or affected by the convergence of laws and polices on energy and the environment.
A fundamental shift is underway in Government thinking and policy throughout the world. As climate change impels them to move to low-carbon energy solutions a vast redistribution of value is taking place. They are at the forefront in being able to help their clients capture and manage some of that redistribution.
Our client dedicated team of over 130 people located in London, Beijing, Madrid and the US, are experts in the fields of renewable energy, clean technology, bio fuels and emissions reductions markets.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Finance department currently consists of seven people (incl. CFO) based in London and one in Beijing covering the management and statutory reporting for the fund management, asset management and advisory business within them. The Beijing office has undergone significant growth since inception in October 2006 and is continuing to embrace corporate wide processes within the Finance function. In addition they are set to launch a private equity business which will require hands on involvement in its establishment and maintenance. They require a flexible and adaptable individual who can operate semi-autonomously, overseeing the production of accurate and timely information for regular internal/external reporting in addition to liaising with local external accountants for audit, tax and other relevant issues.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review of monthly internal reporting for Branch for inclusion in Group consolidated management accounts
- Preparation/review of monthly key controls
- Preparation of all external reporting requirements (financial, tax, regulatory) including key contact with external professional advisors
- Significant involvement in annual budget process and updated forecasting when required
- Overview of cash management
- Assistance in establishment of new private equity entity in relation to financial modelling, processes and due diligence
- Ad-hoc analysis for both internal and external requests
- Manage Finance function in local office
WORK EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Qualified accountant with at least 3 years experience
- Degree
- Advanced Excel (incl. Macro)
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal) – must be confident and effective communicator at all levels
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet and adhere to deadlines
- Good at prioritising and time-management
- Knowledge of local accounting policies and external reporting requirements preferred
- Solid employment history is a plus
- Willingness to take a hands-on, proactive involvement within the team
LANGUAGE ABILITY:
Chinese and English
