Bigwood, I completely agree with you. When I was in Shanghai, I never thought of managing my own budget, cash flow, and everything. But after I moved to US, things change. I NEED TO and MUST understand how finance works. Tax return is a great example... I started to manually do budget every month - making sure the cash flow will work for my mortgage, car loan, student loans.... lots of stuffs that I could not imagine before... Lots of my classmates and friends who finished CFA said that the exam can provide the similar finance education to MBA.
What am I going to do today to move myself in the right direction?

Give me a break. Can CFA Program teach you leadership and teamwork?

Why do you need to learn leadership and teamwork from CFA?

BTW, can't imagine a department manager who do not understand Capex, Epex, and can't imagine a project team leader who do not even know NPV and IRR.

In China maybe, here, no way.

Take it easy.

I was saying CFA and MBA are not comparable. If you haven't been in a MBA program, don't jump to the conclusion that CFA can give you similar education.

A basic corporate finance course will teach you capex expense NPV IRR. Life is too short. It's a huge waste to study CFA program just to get this knowledge. Of course, you can always learn something if you don't have better things to do.
