Equity and CFAI material vs Schweser

Today I opened up the books for the first real study...I'm starting with Equity as I've heard this is an important and relatively difficult topic. What are your guys' thoughts on this topic in your readings? So far it's very qualitative; I'm looking forward to it getting more into the calculations.

More importantly in my post, I've decided to read the CFAI textbooks only. I figured I would save the costs of buying the Schweser package... IMO, if I have the time and dedication to studying for level II, the BEST study tools is what CFA directly provides us...the material is much more lengthy than schweser, but I'm hoping I can get a full study of the material without having the ability to "blame schweser" if I do happen to fail

Alot of my friends failed level II last year, and I really don't want to join them... I want to sacrifice my spare time (well, alot of it anyway) to guarantee a pass.

My plan is switch to Schweser - for a couple books - after reading all the CFAI books... I'm going to borrow my coworkers schweser books a couple months prior to exam day...Nobody studies all the books at once, so I'm going to offer to pay a small price and just use their books to do reviews. It seems like a good idea to me, as long as I do have the time to study all this..and more importantly, understand it perfectly.

Anyway, not sure exactly what my point of this message is... I'm just hoping some people agree with my choice to skip using schweser for the most part.

I am about to finish the equity section. I am doing Schweser videos + CFA texts ...From CFA text I am mostly doing examples and EOC problems I must say that Videos are good. There were a couple of readings that I was having problem but rest I managed to do good and actually I scored good on EOC's problems for most of them.(A little trick I am doing is that I am marking the EOC's which I am doing wrong or atleast the ones which gave me trouble so I can come back to them)

So for me it is working Schweser + CFA .. but I think it all depends on how one prepares. GL with equity section.. I must confess the Valuation session is a b!tch !
