Maintenance margin and Initial Margin only, investor, receives, balance, correct

related to derivatives (more specifically futures) an investor must deposit enough money to bring the balance up to the initial margin when he receives a margin call.

For equity investments, he must only bring the balance up to the maintenance margin.

Is my understanding correct??
