Schweser Mock Exam

I scored 66 on the first A.M. Session Practice Exam from the Schweser materials. I've put in a decent amount of time thus far and feel a little nervous I didn't score over 70.

I realize not everyone has finished reading the material yet, but for those of you who have attempted exams I am curios to see where you are scoring.

The true benefit from the Schweser practice exams is going through all of them (all 6 complete exams). Once you plug your scores in for each exam you will receive a cumulative score for all of the exams per the performance tracker function. Through all of those exams schweser will questioned you on all of LOS's at least once (trusted me I've studied this in depth and I only found one or two that didn't show up on the exams). The downside of the schweser practice exams is you're going to be tested on a high number of LOS's that will not be on the exam. Some would argue that using the CFAI's Mock and Sample exams are more representative of the actual exam because they will be testing you on LOS's that will more than likely be on the exam. My guess is you will be tested on less than 300 LOS on exam day....that leaves approximately 250 or more LOS on the table. So, if you're going to use the schweser practice exams, knock them out at week 5 and 6 before the exam so you can spend the last 4 weeks going through the CFAI Mock and Sample exams and completing a strong final review.

I think the schweser test exams are a good review, AFTER you have learned the material.

I will take it on a week or so. Before memorizing everything I am sure I would score low. From what I heard, the CFA L1 is a lot about memorizing things.

What so magic about score of 70? I have heard that it is minimum passing score, but can't find official information about it anywhere. Institute says that MPS is set every time different depending on the exam difficulty, so there is not clear what MPS really is. Maybe someone could tell me where the rumours about 70 is going from?

I haven't tried Swcheser mocks, but on CFAI mocks I score ~75. Have finished material and now I'm gonna devote all my time for doing tests.

Thats what I was getting about 1 months before the exam. I ended up with 70+ on all sections on the real thing...

But then again, I did put in 200 hours after that date...

But, 200 was over doing it, and not only was I above 70, if you somehow could get an exact grade out of CFA, I am sure mine would have been 90+

So I would have to say, given your current status you can probably take the real exam today and pass...Just in case, keep studying the best you can.

I got a 70 this past weekend - moving up! I believe I know the material better than a 70%, but I need more exposure and practice with the questions. There were 10 questions I definitely should have gotten correct.

---I strongly disagree with this statement...specifically regarding the pure "memorizing" a key to success...Level 1 is very theoretical, and it strongly tests your understanding of the material...They will try and trick you, so make sure you understand the material intuitively, rather than memorization...This comes from a level 2 candidate

memorizing obviously helps, but chances are it won't be enough if you don't actually understand the material...

best of luck to everyone...plenty of time to go
