equity: closed-end contry fund: no redemption concern

it is said that closed-end contry fund has no redemption concern as the # of share is fixed. why? Thanks.

Once you purchase shares in a closed-end fund, you may not redeem them as you wish. Often the period of a closed end fund is quite long if they are able to be redeemed.
This is contrast with most open-ended funds where an investor can buy or redeem shares whenever they please.
The reasons for closed-end funds not allowing to redeem shares is that it allows the fund managers to invest in risky assets without the fear of liquidations in which he would have to sell assets to redeem shares. This is useful in emerging markets where equity or debt securities lack significant liquidity.
