CFA Level II starting organised studying

Hi all

Gave my test and there is no way i am going to clear it. I know even if i did by fluke, i dont deserve it. Got married in Feb and surely was not able to concentrate on studies.

Now i want to nail it, after seeing the paper i feel i can do it. However even for Level I my study was not organised. Now that i have one year, i want to know few things, if anyone here can help.

1) When will CFA Institute release material for L2 2012 ? By how much the curriculum will be different ? since i dont want to discontinue studying, want to ensure that studying from existing curriculum would be of help.
2) I simply had no time to study so only studied for 3 months from Schweser Notes which i believe backfired, do you guys think studying from Curriculum is the better way? since i want to opt for it now that i have time.
3) i want to to study 2 hrs on weekdays and 5-6 hrs on weekends (saturday and sunday) since i also have an active social life, will intensify post december, will this be enough?
4) How much weigtage would you give to practicing? what should i do? solve CFAI? Schwser EOS Qs.?
5) Which tests are most effective? CFAI / Schweser / Elan (i hope they release 1 for L2)

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i'd say give or take 1-2% of the material might change - but honestly having seen this material twice now, i can say that using the 2011 materials to prepare in advance is still logical, especially for the bigger, more EOC-heavy sections.

yes, being nice &cheerful won't make u pass this level.

Thank you Mr Moose for helping me to elaborate my understanding of " Burnout". Can't agree more about what you said above.

I do believe somehow that approach suggested above 80% Schweser and 20% CFAI is wrong, if you want to gain knowledge then read curriculum, i doubt it helps to read Schweser entirely and depend on that 100%.

My strategy is tentatively

1) Start with CFAI 2-3 hrs a day in this order Equity,Quants,Derivatives,Fixed Income,FSA,Corp Finance,Portfolio,Alternative,Economics (finish 1st reading of all books till November), Solve EOC Questions for CFAI + Schweser on my way.
2) Maintain formule sheets (1 primary and one secondary)
3) Give Mid Term Tests from Schweser Q Banks.
4) Revision1 with CFAI Material + EOC Chaptor solve (by March end)
5) schweser Tests (Apr-May) practice weak areas curriculum/Schweser, watch Schweser Videos
6) CFAI Test (Apr-May) practice weak areas - refer curriculum/Schweser, watch Schweser Videos
7) 11th Hr. Guide (Day before exam)

I hope this works, i know it wont be a burnout if i study curriculum from the point of view of knowledge gaining not only exam preparation. There are many areas in Equity Curriculum e.g. which will prove useful in our careers (which schweser does not cover IMHO).

As far as being nice and cheerful, i dont know "easygoing" why are you disussing that in this thread, this is serious studies thread not for tp.
