Schweser Level III notes are in

I received the level III notes in the mail today.

Yo guys, my order is en route as well. Question - is there a PDF version available from Schweser? I study at work when I can, and would love to have something on screen I can quickly hide versus having a book out on my desk where the whole world can see what I'm doing

Hi Gregoirepost

Have you also passed CFA level 3? I also passed Level 1&2 with Schweser alone but it was at Level 3 that the shortcomings became clear.

I actually would recommend doing the opposite of what you suggest. Mainly study with CFAI and supplement with Schweser exam books (or another provider).

The reason I say buying the Schweser notes is a waste of money is that the CFAI gives you all the books you need and in my view, their books are superior. I'm not saying you won't pass with Schweser but if you already have perfectly good books from CFAI buying more books from a third party just seems like a waste.

"not waste my money on the Schweser Level III notes"

...

I understand you but can't fully agree: i passed frm, caia and cfa1&2 with schweser and it went fine.
Of course you have to complement your study work by practising the exercises and mock exam from CFAI to get use to their specific format, and maybe spot weak areas, but Schweser is pretty good finally.

CardShark => why specifically IPS ? I might follow your advice on this

See you guys! The road is dam long til june 2011!!

I personally would not waste my money on the Schweser Level III notes. Plus the Schweser customer service is lousy.

The CFAI books are more comprehensive and much more useful. Don't waste your money on third party materials or classes. They are a big con job.

ChickenTikka, thats actually a little disturbing...

DEFINITELY use CFAI for all IPS stuff and Fixed Income. Otherwise, huge probability of failure.

They're purplish blue. With a lady on the cover. I'm trying to guess her age, but I'm at a loss. I'm gonna go with 33.

This is my first year with Schweser (Former Stalla-ite). Are the texts usually this bad with highlighter? The good news is I breezed through the Estate Planning reading (#16) last night and I think I have a fairly decent grasp on it.

Has anyone recvd the books? What's the color of the cover this time?

i noticed on the CFAI website the % breakdown is absurd. it seems to be oriented towards L1 and 2 only. anyone else know what I am talking about?

In L1 and L2 they gave you a much narrower spread on % breakdowns per topic. maybe 10-15% for econ, 5-15% for quat...etc...On the L3 breakdown that i saw in CFAI, 50% of the topics have a 0% weighting and they cram everything into Wealth Management and something else and give it a 0-55% range or something. am i missing something here?
