Finally Starting

Hi,

After completing my PG in Management, I was able to secure a job as Asst. Finance Manager in one of the Manufacturing Organizations. My task is to basically handle banks and raise short term funds. So constantly kept in touch with different trade finance organizations and bankers of all level (except the top ones). I performed well and after 1yr they increased my responsiblity which gave me chance to deal with investors as well (our company is listed). Long story short, thats how I got really interested in going into equity research and if I am extremely lucky, IB in future. So after about 5-6 months thought process, I have decided to enroll in L1 for Dec 2011.
I am planning to buy study materials but am really confused between Elan and Schweser. I have gone through various posts in this forum but am still confused.
From your experience, can you tell me whether doing Schweser notes alone is enough?
Really appreciate any help.
Regards

Generally, CFA curriculumn may be the best source for deeply penetrating every topics. However, if time is not unlimited, my advice is to user material from Schweser (just study note + Qbank is enough).
From my experience (passed at the first attempt, with scores on all topics >70%), their study note covered nearly all every detail of CFA curriculum, and Qbank (if time invested in practising on it is enough) is substantially significant in helping test-takers get well familiar with the calculations as well as the pattern of the questions they may face later in the exam.

I decided to stay after office and study for like an hr before going home, but that dint work out as well. Somehow I always ended up doing office work only and study nothing. So I am pushing myself to wake up in the morning and study. Got three productive days, just hope it continues.

I would still suggest Schweser for Level I.

I used Schweser exclusively and studied for less than a month. Did all EOC, a ton of Qbank, and mocks, including the CFAI mock.

If your Googling skills are good, you can find Schweser products at a significant discount.

I also did not purchase any 3rd party material and I have had a good feeling after the exam. I think it depends on you not on the material.

I'd use the CFAI materials for Ethics, but for the other topics, Schweser + CFAI EOC questions should be OK.
