This:
"In every case you need to focus on being part of the investment decision process.
So what do you do that might change the portfolio?"
Do you interface with traders, portfolio managers or portfolio strategy group? If so, how? Do they use what you do in order to make trades or construct portfolios?
I'd emphasize:
-any writeups you do (if any) that go to investment decision makers
-any face-to-face interactions you have with investment decision makers
-any quantitative analysis you do
Make sure to explain what you do as it relates to how you fit into the investment decision process and explain it well. Spin it as necessary but don't lie. If you do what you say you do, you can come up with something. Don't assume CFAI knows anything about your job. Don't be afraid to elaborate in order to make things clear.
Myself working in limit monitoring, but did not send in any work experience yet (since i am 3 years short out of 4). But i guess in my case i would focus on the discussions we have with the portfolio manager if he can hold a security or not, and when he needs to sell (when ratings drop for example). Besides we advice on the IPS' before they are signed (what to put in the restrictions and in what way).
