example, someone, concepts, 2011

Can someone clarify the concepts with some example. I am very confused.

Cost, Fair Value, Historical Cost, Book Value, Par Value.

yes par value would only be in context of bonds.

but the others are in context of intercorporate investments

Is this with respect to Bonds? because par value does not make sense to me otherwise
