Why do people count the hours? only, therefore, posting, planning

Is it just me, or is keeping track of the hours spent studying actually counter productive?

I originally was planning on trying this for level II but never got into it...It seems like a waste of time...The only way I could see it beneficial is if you have a hard time staying focused and therefore time yourself to study a minimum amount of time each 'study session'.

It seems like everyone keeps posting about the specific amount of hours they've spent studying, but I'm wondering if these are just rough estimates?

I just study until I don't feel like it anymore have been doing it this way since I started... I have no idea how many hours I spent but maybe 200 to 300? Regardless, I feel alot better about level II than I did with level I.... maybe it's because I find the material more interesting than level I and didn't leave it until the last minute lol and by minute i mean last few weeks since I finished my uni program in 1st week of May...I just crammed for 3 full weeks and for level II I started in January studying off and on until now!

I track it because it makes me feel good seeing my progress and knowing where I stand. I have a number in my head that if I hit I feel as though I will have a good shot at passing. Adderall post? You really murdered the ellipsis.

i dont keep track of hours. i have a schedule of work/review that i want to complete and i judge my time based on how far ahead (or behind) i am vs. that schedule.
