How do EOC questions compare to exam?

Hi all -- im studying for level 1 in June 2011 and this is no doubt the first question of many! Thanks in advance
I'd like to know how the end of chapter questions in the CFA textbooks compare to the questions in the exam, in terms of difficulty? Obv at this stage of my study I haven't done any mocks, but I'm doing pretty well on the EOC questions so was hoping to get a gauge on what that means.
Thanks very much to all - and fingers crossed for those of you who are waiting for your results. Cheers

Again, EOC questions are best to judge your preparation for actual exam - comes after it Elan mock exams

Good luck

Thanks Omar! -- I guess I asked the question because I'm finding there is huge variation in the difficulty of the EOC questions. ie some are obvious while others are really hard. Am keen to know whether the exam is somewhat similar. Because if it's 240 questions that are like the hardest EOC ones - uh oh.
cheers

The exam has all kinds of questions: easy, average, and difficult with majority of questions in the average category.

The classification I like more about the questions is Elan's classification:

1) Theory questions: those that test if you read material or not (i.e. what is a disadvantage of price-weighted index)
2) Calculation questions: those in which you would have to do computations to derive answer (i.e. given ROE of X and Dividend ratio of Y, what is growth rate?)
3) Conceptual questions: those that examine your ability to master concepts (i.e. if cross elasticity of product is negative, an increase in price of one unit would cause what to the quantity of other product?)

EOC (unlike kaplan) are meant to cover all 3 types and this is most likely what you are going to face on exam day

Good luck

I would prefer the CFAI to have an end of topic questions after each topic area.
