GIPS Advice extent, Advice, necessary

What would be the extent that I should be know the GIPS?
There is an optional segment...would it be necessary to know inside and out?

Understand the basics, ignore anything and everything that says optional.

There were maybe 3 or 4 questinos on it when i took lvl 1. They mostly had to do with "how many years should you keep docs" etc Questions that are easy for MC
