How popular is Stalla?

I have been reading forums here for a while but couldn't register for whatever reason. Happy to finally be able to post here ;)

My question is how popular is stalla study guide here, I rarely hear anyone mentioning it, it's always Schweiser. Is schweiser so much better?

I am thinking about taking level 2 exam in 2012, I passed level 1 in 2010, I bought stalla books for 2011 but then things happened and i couldn't study this year. I am worried that since i haven't touched CFA material in a while it's going to be extra hard to start studying for level 2, when I already forgot most of the level 1 material.

Has anyone done that, skipped a year and then studied for level 2 and passed?

Thanks in advance.

I've been keen on using Stalla this year as when I did level 1 I used the CFAI text and the full Schweser package. I was pretty disappointed with Schweser as I found the notes far too shallow, especially lacking in the accounting section and the videos a complete waste of time.

Having taken a look at the Stalla "demo" for the level 2 accounting section I was pretty impressed and was ready to put my credit card details down. Then I decided to do one last quick check of the package and realised that for some reason the "notes" weren't listed. I really don't understand why they have decided to leave out the notes and they haven't made any communication about this omission on their site, in fact they still advertise the "notes" as a fundamental part of their approach within their marketing material.

Now that the notes aren't included I really don't know which way to go and I'm now hesitant to use the Stalla package until they either include it again or give me a good explanation of why it's not included.

About the time gap between levels, I don't think it's such a big issue. I can't remember exactly but I think I did level 1 three or four years ago and decided to pick it up again after I noticed that a fair number of jobs in my company that I'm interested in list CPA/MBA/CFA as a pre-req. But I do have an finance degree.

I just took a look at the Stalla site and it now says: "Convenient electronic format within Passmaster software covers every LOS."

So it looks like they want to charge the same amount without actually providing the notes in printed format. Can you actually print the notes from within Passmaster without any print restrictions? Printing all the notes off would probably end up adding an extra $100 to the final cost.

I think we all need to make a little more noise as the package still lacks a printed copy of the notes and it's completely unprofessional to expect thousands of customers to spend a whole morning at a print shop clicking through the software for each section trying to print out a thousand pages.

passmaster does not allow you to print the entire chapter, from past experience.
it is a image like format, so you will need to spend more time to copy those images one by one, paste them into a doc and then print them out.

I've called and asked a few times, and they said they don't allow printing. I really don't like the idea of reading from my computer - it's inflexible and annoying. The people running Stalla clearly don't get their customer base, and I will likely take my Level II business elsewhere.

I asked too and there's no printing. The person i spoke to was also VERY vague about how much Olinto is teaching. They really need to rethink their strategy.

Absolutely true Cinderella..

I also enquired about Peter and there was no proper response. I was a big fan of Stalla as I cleared level 1 with just that. Business else where just as spartanag07 says.

They are charging bloody hell for the same stuff without printing.. thats bad!
