Need advice!

I have been quite confused for a couple of weeks trying to study for a Canadian Securities Course, I passed level 1 in Dec 2010 however wasnt able to register for level 2 in June 2011 due to my degree and work not fulfilling the requirements however it has been sorted out and I will be registering for June 2012. My confusion lies in the fact that I work at one of the leading bank in Canada as a Consumer lending specialist and I cant move to a different role for at least 12 months, so my question to all the experienced people in the industry is that If I do pursue level 2 will it help me if I decide to pursue my career in the field of lending, so maybe a credit analyst or risk analyst......talking to my manager in this regard wont really help as he doesn't even know what CFA is ..so that is even more discouraging...and same is the case with Canadian Securities course...material is very simple however I am not at all motivated as the material I am studying does not at all apply to my current role in the bank...I am a graduate from U of T in economics/stats and 24 years old(just to give you an idea of my life stage)....so anyone has any advice what so ever, I am all ears all in this case all eyes...

there are plenty of hedge funds in NYC that need risk analysts.

If you're interested in risk management, shouldn't you rather enroll into, or at least check out, the FRM program? (Or the PRM program?) Just a thought... you'll find more information with GARP and PRMIA, respectively. The fact that you spend one year working in some field doesn't mean you're stuck in that job role forever (thankfully). Check out all three options, plus a few more, and then decide which one you like best. If you're doubtful whether Level II is right for you, enroll late so you don't risk paying for something you'll later regret (it is not entirely uncommon to see people who are trying to sell their CFA material in January when they've finally decided they won't pursue the CFA exams after all).
