when will the certificate/exam expire? experience, passing, required, relative, industry

After passing level 3, one should have enough relative working experience to applying charterholder.
However, my major is not finance and i not sure if i will succeed to transfer to finance industry in the future. If i could not achieve the 4 year working experience AIMR required in limited period, will the cfa exam expire?
