CFAI Text Vol 6 - Derivatives - Optional Readings? percentage, concepts, because, already, decent

How “optional” do you guys think these sections are? Looks to be a decent percentage of the text.
In L1 I ignored all optional readings and was just fine. But these seem to be reviewing L1 concepts. So does that mean they are optional because its assumed we already know the information? Or in the case of L1, optional because it doesn’t matter for the test?
Make sense? Your thoughts?
