You still have five full months. That's plenty of time if you're dedicated to really give it a go. And you have to spend money to make money.

Additing to sbmarti2's point, CFA designation worth whole lot more than couple thousand $$ in the long run.

not late at all. I have seen a lot of folks start in Jan even early feb and pass this thing.

It's not too late as long as you can put in enough hours/week. I definitely did not study for 5 months, and many people I know also did not start until the year of the exam.

Not too late.

First two levels I didn't really crack the books until February.
Will be starting earlier this time though (probably).

You don't need either Schweser or 'Other'.
CFAI material is sufficient.

Too late? I think I must be misunderstanding your question.

I just registered for the exam, this very moment, I dont even have any study manuals yet. I don't even consider myself behind.

I recall ordering the level two stuff earlier, but I didn't get cracking until the classes started, which I think was the second week of January, and I still think I took a two week breather in the middle of March.

Anyhow, I think starting before December is a waste of time, I imagine studying for the CFA as filling up a leaky bucket, you mostly need to be able to really get that bucket full the last two weeks, then run into the test, write some hard to remember formulas on the notes when you get in, and hope your bucket has some water left by the time the test is over.

So, moral of the story, sign it up brother. Oh, and I passed both tests on my first shot, so far only one section below a 70%.

I agree. I'm about to start around next week or so. Of course, I've not yet taken level 3, so can't really tell, but I was able to pass level 1 and 2 comfortable studying around 4-5 months. Hope it works this time as well.
