Just curious what everyone has spent on level 2. This is cost including cfa registration, sample exams, pencils, calculators, paper, hotels if needed, third party provider like schweser, stalla, etc...

Let's not include our opportunity cost. I am close to $2200.

Cost of calculator and pencils is it so far thankfully....Scholarship from local CFA chapter for level I and level II (first)....my employer paid for level II, second try.

I think local CFA chapter scholarships are very underutilized...or I assume so because I applied on the last day two years in a row and got it.

I only use CFA material....

The registration fee was about $1000. Then $900 spent on a Schweser study package and $100 later on their flashcards so it's about $2100.

But if I passed my company will reimburse everything (as did in level 1)

$2500 all in, but get fully reimbursed if I pass, (fingers crossed for a pass and new laptop)!

$0. company paid for everything.

$700 to CFAI
$450 Accounting Workshop
$350 Hotels
$300 Airfare

~$1,800 all in

Will get reimbursed for some of I pass. The sample exams are a huge waste of money imo. I bought one last year and it was such a joke that I swore them off forever.

Think about all the money saved by not going out during the past 6 months...
that should more than out weigh the cost spent on exam...

I know I saved thousands and thousands by not going out, not playing golf, etc...

Unfortunately this was offset by the increase in monies spent on hookers to cover the lack of drunk girls found while going out.

$700 to CFA
$800 to stella
$120 for practice/sample exams etc.

Total: $1620

$700 or so to CFA.
$50 to join CFA Society of UK
$100 or so on some iPad apps

That's about it. And yeah, probably saved a bit by not going out as much...although with a little boy at home, it's not like we were going out all that much anyway....

I checked into a hotel for a week, plus air fare, that alone is over $1500!
作者: Kapie    时间: 2011-7-13 16:42

600 to CFAI.
2 USD for having a cup of tea and a half pack of snaks
Got a lift to exam centre!
35 USD for Schweser Notes
15 USD for Schweser Mock (which i didnt take)
Total 642

just curious, what kind of job reimburse for CFA exams? equity research? portfolio management?
作者: yodacaia    时间: 2011-7-13 16:42

some companies even give staff 1-2 wk leave before the exam.

$700 paid to CFAI; spent $1,000 on stalla and $800 on schweser. In the end I thought it was a good investment as the exam went really well :-)

I'm a portfolio analyst on a wealth management team, they reimburse if I pass.
作者: Analyze_This    时间: 2011-7-13 16:42

My exact costs:

$700 CFAI.
$50 for Elan 11th hour.
$5 for new calculator battery.
$50 for paper/ink costs.
$3 for index cards
$20 parking fee at test location.

$828 total. And I'm 80-90% sure I passed, so I feel it was well worth it.
