Alright guys I know there are several posts on this topic but I’m sure someone else has the same question.
So mechanical pencils are ok, got it. They say we need “#2 or HB” lead. Well, I have a load of “2B” lead which I used throughout college on all my scantrons and they all went fine. Is 2B not allowed??? Please tell me someone else has done this!?

Just buy a a pack of presharpened #2 pencils; they’re like $1.99 for 20. You’re just filling in bubbles, you don’t need your preferred pencil.

2B or not 2B, that is the question…
I’m sure those will be fine. 2B is #2. The scantron machine doesn’t do a chemical analysis of your pencil lead; it just needs something like what it was designed to read. The 2B will work just fine.
Anyway, I just answered the question because I thought the 2B or not 2B was clever and I am full of myself.

I’m bringing my giant pencil, you know those 2 foot long giant pencil? It is my lucky pencil and I absolutely can’t write the exam without it because it allows me to fill in the answers faster. I hope the CFAI allows it.
