Hi,
a quick (stupid) question about page 88 of CFAI book: it states that “if applicable law requires members and candidates to maintain confidentiality, even if the information concerns illegal activities on the part of the client”. However, I thought confidentiality can be overruled when info concerns illagal activities on the part of the client (main text), so applicable law has supremacy?

Note how it doesn’t say “you can’t tell the FBI anything about the client if your client does something illegal.”
If the FBI comes knocking on your door asking about a client’s activities, you have to tell them.
However, if you know a client is doing something illegal, i do not think you are responsible to tell the authorities.
Good luck.
