HP 12C Platinum Calculator calculator, necessary, efficient, programs

I'm going to be writing my level 1 in June.

I've had the 12C for a while now, but now trying to make sure I know how to use it on test day.

For those of you who used this calculator, did you program the calculator at all during the exam? Is that necessary? Does it make it more efficient if you're writing the exam to have programs stored on it? Or just a waste of valuable time?
